Wood fired blue porcelain. You can see the scale of this planter by watching the video of how it was thrown.
About the wood-fired pieces:
In March 2020 I went upstate for a woodfiring under the direction of woodfiring master Ming Yuen Schat. After throwing the pieces in my Brooklyn studio, we went upstate and split wood, set up the tarp, wadded every piece, loaded the kiln, then stoked the flames until they consumed the kiln. The temperature hit over 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. I only fired 10 pieces. The colors and textures develop naturally from the intense heat and ash, which is also dictated by their arrangement in the kiln. Check out the photos for shots of this amazing process!
