This design was inspired by three pieces spotted at the Naxos Archaeological Museum in Naxos, Greece. The form is inspired by a wide bellied terracotta pot with double lugs on each side. The holes were likely used for rope handles. The imagery was inspired by two sculptural fragments: one of a horse’s mouth, and the other some kind of animal with a missing head.
My porcelain pot features the same cylindrical double lugs, with underglaze paintings on either side. The imagery was inspired by Mediterranean decor and tiles and features the fragments from the museum.
The pot features a glossy butterscotch glaze, brass wire handles, and gold luster accents.
