A Meiping vase, or plum vase is a type of Chinese vase inspired by the shape of a young woman’s body.  It originated in the Tang dynasty (618–907), as stoneware and used as a wine vessel. During the Song dynasty (960–1279)  It was designed to support a single plum tree bloom branch, hence the meaning of its name.
