A Public Database Comparing Gold Lusters

When the popular Duncan, then later Mayco, gold luster was discontinued, it was a huge loss. A few suppliers have since provided their own lusters. People may take photos of their work using luster, but there wasn't really an organized, singular way to view all these examples from our community of ceramic artists. This free luster reference guide is a tool I created because it is helpful to see a comparison of the popular lusters on the market. They are grouped by the brand, which is in the first column on the left.

I have also included gold glaze effects that look similar to gold luster. There are also screenshots from popular Instagram videos, and those are denoted with the date posted so you can scroll through their profile to find it.

The end of the PDF contains application tips, such as the use of rubbing alcohol to clean luster, as well as some safety information about fumes provided directly from a professional technician.
